gas hot water verse solar hot water?
In a new house which is better to install, instantaneous gas (lpg) or solar hot water? I have no idea how much Gas an average family would use and how much a refill costs.
Gas is cheaper to install, and the system lasts longer with less maintenance. Solar is dearer, but has a rebate.Solar has a life of approx 15 years? I’m in Qld. thanks
The few customers I have that have a tankless gas water heater, loves them.
Ol’ Randy is building his second new house and his putting in a tankless gas heater. He put one in his first new house he had built about 3 years ago.
I’m sure I’m behind on solar statistics by now, but solar for hot water isn’t worth the investment.
They’re good for pre heating. but if you are thinking of tankless, there is no reason to pre heat the water.
The solar water heater systems in my area have electric water heaters also. Again, all the solar does is pre heat the water before it goes through the normal water heater.
I’d stay away from solar. A lot of plumbing, and money is involved.
