Your Solar Powered Home (or How to Have One)

If your home is anything but solar powered then you are feeling the burden of electric and gas bills.  How seriously have you considered using the sun’s power to help you out.  If you are reading this article out of curiosity then let me first tell you that it is possible, it is easy, it doesn’t have to cost as much as you think and you can save money on bills just like countless other people.  You can even do it yourself.  Now let’s talk about how to transform your house into your solar powered home.

Solar energy is the heat that comes from the sun. When it reaches the Earth it spreads evenly but you would want it to go to a specific place, like your home. How do you get that much sunlight to heat a home? It’s easy to build your own Solar Power source with just a few steps.

Your Solar Powered Water Heater:

You can use solar power to heat your water.  Once you have created your solar power source, you can now collect solar energy by allowing your source to benefit from the sun’s light.  One way to use this source to heat your water is to direct the source to the pipes that carry the water before they enter your home.  The water will be heated on its way in.  Another way is to keep a water storage tank and heat the water in the tank before it enters your home, using the solar power source that you have created.

Your Solar Powered Refrigerator:

Ever think that the sun can make things cold, and cut costs at the same time.  Solar powered refrigerators are thermostat controlled which allows you to set the temperature of your refrigerator and freezer. There is minimal noise as it runs because the power source to it is flowing naturally and constantly. They also come in a variety of sizes as well as colors in order to fit into any solar powered kitchen.  The same principle can be used with other appliances.

Energy Efficient Appliances:

Not all appliances can be solar powered.  The alternative is to purchase energy efficient appliances. They use less energy compared to regular appliances and they don’t skimp on the quality of use. Chest freezers, dishwashers, stoves, microwaves, washers and dryers are all appliances that can be purchased as energy efficient which will save on both energy and money. When you use appliances that are efficient they usually cost more up front but in the long run they are worth the extra money and can last you a lifetime with proper maintenance.

Owning a solar power home means that you are encouraging preserving our natural resources for the future. It also means that you will not worry with the increase in cost of electricity and gas because you are using the best source out there without hurting the environment.  If you are seriously thinking about building your solar powered home, then I hope I have given you one more reason to.

Although this article contains some ideas about using solar energy to power your home that you might not have thought about before, it barely scratches the surface in terms of what you need to do.  What you really need is a guide that will show exactly how to get your home solar power ready at a low cost.
